The rampaging sales of the standalone adaptation of popular open-world survival game DayZ continue, with Bohemia Interactive CEO Maruk Spanel confirming via Twitter today that the game has sold more than one million copies in just its first four weeks of availability.
It’s a pretty impressive figure, particularly for a work-in-progress game with a Steam page that encourages potential players to refrain from purchasing it unless they’re prepared to tolerate “serious issues and possible interruptions of game functioning.”
Creator Dean Hall conceded last week that, “Honestly, 250k within a quarter was what I would have considered a success.” DayZ sales have quadrupled Hall’s estimate in one-third of the time.
DayZ is available on Steam now for USD$29.99/£19.99/AUD$29.99.
